  • Vegetable oil: 120 ml
  • Milk: 180 ml (plus 3 tbsp for the cocoa mixture)
  • Flour: 250 g (1.5 cups)
  • Baking powder: 1 tsp
  • Cocoa powder: 2 tbsp

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs, salt, vanilla sugar, sugar, vegetable oil, and milk. Whisk until smooth. Gradually add the flour and baking powder to the mixture, stirring until the batter is lump-free and smooth.

  2. Divide the batter into two portions. In a smaller bowl, mix cocoa powder with 3 tablespoons of milk to form a smooth paste. Add this cocoa mixture to one portion of the batter and stir until fully combined.

  3. Grease a 23x11 cm baking dish (or similar size) and lightly dust it with flour. Pour half of the plain batter into the dish, then layer the chocolate batter on top. Add the remaining plain batter over the chocolate layer.

  4. Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F). Bake the layered batter for 40–50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  5. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Once cooled, slice into pieces and enjoy your delicious chocolate-filled pastry treats!
