Directions

  1. Warm the milk (50 ml) slightly. Mix in 5 g dry yeast (or 15 g fresh yeast) and 1 tsp of sugar from the total amount. Stir well and let it rest for 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together 150 g butter, 60 g sugar, 1 pinch of vanilla, and 1 tsp of salt. Add 2 eggs and mix well. Pour in the yeast mixture and combine. Gradually add 350-380 g of flour, mixing until the dough begins to come together. Knead gently, adding a little more plain flour if necessary, to create a soft, pliable dough.

  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for a few minutes. Roll it out to a 1 cm thickness. Ensure the layer is even, then sprinkle a light coating of sugar on top. Cut the layer into 25 equal parts. Cover the pieces with plastic wrap or a damp cloth and let them rest briefly.

  4. Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F). Arrange the dough pieces on a baking tray, leaving space between them. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
