  • 1 plastic bottle cap (modified as described below)
  • 450 g potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/5 tsp black pepper
  • 110 g corn starch
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • Dried scallions (for garnish)
  • Oil for deep frying

Directions

  1. Cut a star-shaped opening in the middle of a plastic bottle cap. Attach the modified cap to the nozzle of a piping bag.

  2. Peel and cut the potatoes into pieces. Boil the potato pieces for 15 minutes or until tender. Drain and mash the boiled potatoes until smooth.

  3. Add salt, black pepper, corn starch, and cooking oil to the mashed potatoes. Mix well until a smooth, pliable dough forms.

  4. Fill the piping bag with the prepared potato dough. Press the dough through the star-shaped nozzle to form small rings.

  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the potato rings in batches for 8 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

  6. Remove the rings from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Garnish with dried scallions and serve hot.
