Ingredients

  • 200 grams of flour
  • 150 grams of sugar
  • 80 ml of vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 170 ml of milk
  • 50 grams of cornstarch
  • 8 grams of baking powder
  • A pinch of vanilla
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons of milk

Directions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt until well combined. Add the vegetable oil and mix thoroughly. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring continuously. Sift in the baking powder, flour, and cornstarch. Mix until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. If the batter appears too thin, add a little more flour and mix again until the desired consistency is achieved.

  2. Line the cake tin with parchment paper. Pour in a layer of the batter, about 2 tablespoons, spreading it evenly.

  3. Take about 2 tablespoons of the batter and mix in the cocoa powder. Add 3 tablespoons of milk to the cocoa batter and mix until smooth. Pour the cocoa mixture over the plain batter in the cake tin, using a knife to gently swirl the two together to create a marble effect.

  4. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Place the cake tin in the oven and bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool before serving.
