Ingredients

  • 380 g flour
  • 120 g sugar
  • 120 ml vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • Vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 3 tsp milk

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine the 2 eggs, 120 g sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Mix together. Once combined, add the 120 ml of vegetable oil and mix again. Then, add the lemon zest and mix well. Gradually add the 350-380 g of flour, mixing until incorporated. If needed, add a bit more flour and knead with your hands to form a soft dough.

  2. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a log shape and place them on a baking sheet. Use a sharp knife to flatten each log.

  3. In a small bowl, mix the egg yolk, 2-3 tsp of milk, and 1 tbsp of cocoa powder. Once combined, pour the mixture over the flattened dough. Use a slotted spoon to create spots or patterns on the surface.

  4. Bake in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15 minutes. Once done, remove from the oven and cut the dough into small pieces while still warm.
