Directions

  1. Finely chop the onion and carrot. In a pan, melt the butter and sauté the onion for 3 minutes. Add the carrot and cook for an additional 4 minutes. Once done, divide this mixture into two equal parts.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and pork, cooked rice, black pepper, salt, one half of the sautéed onion and carrot mixture, and the egg. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined. Shape the mixture into medium-sized meatballs with your hands.

  3. In the same pan with the remaining onion and carrot mixture, add minced garlic and flour. Stir well, then pour in the dry red wine, water, and heavy cream. Season with black pepper, thyme, paprika, oregano, and salt. Stir until the sauce is smooth and well-mixed.

  4. Place the meatballs in the sauce and cook over low-medium heat for 10 minutes on each side. After the initial cooking, gently stir the meatballs and continue cooking for another 10 minutes on medium heat, ensuring they're evenly coated in the sauce.

  5. Once cooked through, sprinkle the meatballs with fresh dill. Serve hot with your choice of side dishes like mashed potatoes, pasta, or fresh bread.
