Directions
-
In a bowl, combine 200 ml of warm milk, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 8 g of dry yeast, and 3–4 teaspoons of flour. Mix thoroughly, cover with plastic wrap, and set aside in a warm place to activate.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt until well combined. Add the melted butter and orange zest, mixing until smooth. Pour the yeast mixture into the egg mixture and stir well. Gradually add 500–550 g of flour to form a soft dough. Add a little extra flour if needed for consistency. Knead the dough with your hands, sprinkle with a bit of flour, and shape it into a ball. Lightly grease the dough with oil, cover, and set aside in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours to rise.
-
Place the raisins on a sheet of parchment paper and press gently with your hands to break them into smaller pieces. Transfer to a bowl, add 1 tablespoon of flour, and mix to coat evenly.
-
After the dough has risen, flatten it gently with your hands. Sprinkle the prepared raisins evenly over the dough and fold it to incorporate the raisins. Knead gently until the raisins are evenly distributed. Divide the dough into three equal portions and place each portion into a greased 11 cm baking form. Cover with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for an additional hour.
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Bake the loaves for 35 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar or icing sugar before serving.
