Directions
-
In a large bowl, mix the flour and baking powder. Add the butter and rub it into the flour with your fingers until the mixture becomes crumbly.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, egg, vanilla, and salt. Pour this mixture into the flour mixture and combine with your hands until a soft dough forms. Wrap the dough and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
-
In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese, sour cream (or yogurt), sugar, flour, egg white, and vanilla until smooth.
-
Remove the dough from the fridge and roll it out to 0.8 cm thickness. Cut the dough into small circles or squares. Place 1 spoonful of the filling onto each piece. Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon or pocket shape. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
In a small bowl, mix the egg yolk and milk. Brush this mixture over the pastries for a golden crust. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
