Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour and baking powder. Add the butter and rub it into the flour with your fingers until the mixture becomes crumbly.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, egg, vanilla, and salt. Pour this mixture into the flour mixture and combine with your hands until a soft dough forms. Wrap the dough and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

  3. In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese, sour cream (or yogurt), sugar, flour, egg white, and vanilla until smooth.

  4. Remove the dough from the fridge and roll it out to 0.8 cm thickness. Cut the dough into small circles or squares. Place 1 spoonful of the filling onto each piece. Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon or pocket shape. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  5. In a small bowl, mix the egg yolk and milk. Brush this mixture over the pastries for a golden crust. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
