Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the egg, sugar, milk, and yeast. Stir with a spatula until well-mixed. Add the wheat flour and salt, and mix again until a dough forms. Cover the bowl with a lid and let it rest for a short time.

  2. Add the unsalted butter to the dough and knead thoroughly by hand until smooth. Cover the dough with plastic wrap or a cloth and let it rise for 1 hour.

  3. After the dough has risen, divide it into 9 equal parts. Roll each part into a cylinder or log shape.

  4. Place the rolls in a pre-greased, preheated 22×22 cm baking dish. Cover with plastic wrap or a cloth and allow the rolls to proof for 40 minutes. Brush the tops with a beaten egg for a glossy finish.
