Ingredients

  • 300g tofu
  • 300g spam
  • ½ onion
  • A handful of green onions
  • 1 slice of cheddar cheese
  • Chopped chili pepper (optional)
  • 300ml water
  • 8g (1 tbsp) soy sauce
  • 12g (0.5 tbsp) gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 12g (0.5 tbsp) doenjang (Korean soybean paste)
  • 5g (1 tbsp) red chili powder
  • 9g (0.5 tbsp) minced garlic
  • 3 tbsp water

Directions

  1. Slice the onion and place it flat in a bowl. Chop the green onions and set aside. In a separate bowl, mix soy sauce, red chili powder, minced garlic, gochujang, doenjang, and 3 tbsp of water to create the seasoning mix.

  2. Pour the seasoning mix over the sliced onion in the bowl. Cut the tofu into square pieces and slice the spam into the same size. Arrange the tofu and spam in a crisscross pattern in a pot. Place the cheddar cheese slice on top. Add chopped chili pepper (if using) and green onions. Pour in 300ml of water.

  3. Cover the pot and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Once cooked, garnish with additional green onions before serving.
