Crumpets Recipe are a classic British treat, cherished for their light, airy texture and distinctive, porous surface. These round, spongy griddle cakes are made from a simple batter of flour, water, yeast, salt, and sugar, which creates the characteristic bubbles and holes as they cook. The result is a delightful combination of a golden, crispy exterior and a soft, moist interior that’s perfect for soaking up butter, honey, or jam. Served hot with a pat of melting butter, crumpets make a cozy and delicious addition to any breakfast or tea-time spread.

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine 3 grams of instant dry yeast with 1 teaspoon of warm water. Mix well and set aside.

  2. In a separate, larger bowl, mix together the flour, warm water, salt, and sugar. Add the yeast mixture, and stir until everything is well combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the mixture rest for 40 minutes.
