Ingredients

  • 350 g flour (3 cups)
  • 150 ml warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 75 ml oil
  • 6 g baking powder (approximately 1 teaspoon)
  • Oil for frying
  • 200 g cheese (your choice, grated or crumbled)
  • Oregano (to taste)

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and oil. Mix well until the flour absorbs the oil evenly. Gradually add the warm water and knead the mixture into a soft dough.

  2. Cover the dough with plastic wrap or polythene and let it rest for 5 minutes. After resting, shape the dough into a round ball. Divide it into smaller portions, then roll or flatten each piece into a circular shape. In a separate bowl, mix the cheese and oregano. Add this filling to the center of each dough circle.

  3. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and press firmly to seal, using a slotted spoon or fork for decoration if desired. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the prepared dough circles on both sides until golden and crispy.

  4. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm and enjoy!
