Directions
-
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, vanilla sugar, salt, sugar, egg, egg white, dry yeast, flour, and butter. Mix the ingredients until a smooth dough forms. Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and let the dough rest for 40–60 minutes, allowing it to rise.
-
In another bowl, mix together butter, sugar, egg, and almond flour until smooth and well combined.
-
Roll out the risen dough with a rolling pin into a rectangular shape. Spread the almond filling evenly over the rolled dough. Roll the dough tightly into a log, then slice it into equal pieces.
-
Place the rolled pieces into a baking dish or tray. Cover with plastic wrap and let them proof for 20 minutes. Mix the egg yolk and milk in a small bowl, then brush the mixture over the top of the rolls. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Once out of the oven, sprinkle powdered sugar and almond petals on top, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
